Lot 270

Cadmus, Paul (1904-1999) American artist whose work fused Renaissance forms and technique with contemporary satire. Cadmus' works blended magical landscapes, urban grit, suburban banality and an idealization of the male body into a colorful and complex portrayal of American vice and virtue.

Signatures ("Paul Cadmus"). Lot of 26 signed reproductions. This lot includes eight matted items ranging from 9¾ x 9" to 11½ x 13¾" including: "What I Believe" matted with "Manikins" on the verso; "Seeing the New Year In"; "Ricordi Estruschi"; an untitled piece; "Playground"; "Self Portrait" which is matted with a signed and inscribed exhibition catalog page, "With good wishes to the Sullivans"; and, a portrait inscribed "To Arn with gratitude for his enthusiasm about my work." Also included are 18 signed reproductions from a book, all of which are suitable for framing and a signed First Day Cover featuring Henry O. Tanner. Except for some very minor edge wear on a few of the unmatted pieces, the lot is in fine condition.
