Archaic head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet and an earring. Rev. A?E, owl standing right, its head facing, an olive-sprig behind, all within a shallow incuse square (Seltman, Group C, 55, pl. III; cf Svoronos pl. 4, 12; Asyut 291). An attractive example of this early issue, of superb Archaic style, well-centred, dark tone, good very fine. Very rare. $ 10,000.
