Apulian. Red-Figure Kantharos, ca. 430-300 BC. Apulian red-figure Kantharos with two high looped handles; on the inside of the handles at lid are two reliefs of female heads, with hair fashioned up, there are two at the base of the handles near the body, also. One side depicts a full figure Greek lady of fashion holding a jewelry box and fan. Reverse: Depicts Eros holding a mirror and bucket(?), with a basin and hydra behind. Painted by a skilled and tasteful hand. One handle is chipped, otherwise intact with no repairs or repainting. Measures: 21.5 X 20.5 cm.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,500.
