Muir, James Nathan. Through Shot and Shell. James Nathan Muir (born 1945) and resident of Sedona Arizona where he owns his own foundry, is a supremely accomplished artist whose bronzes are highly prized. Interpreting historical themes, his works focusing on the Civil War are absolutely amazing. Here the monumental "Through Shot and Shell" a limited edition patinated bronze, 42/50 captures the thunder of battle that was the Civil War. In remarkable detail, Muir has captured a Confederate soldier charging through the line of battle, a shattered canon wheel, rifle and canteen at his feet. Bronze measures 19" x 20" x 12½", weighs close to 28 pounds and is mounted on a polished, swivel wood base. For collectors of Civil War themed ephemera and art, this would prove a significant addition to even the most discriminating collection. Buer responsible for third party shipping.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
