Great Britain. Two Pence, 1786. S.3756; ESC-2246. George III. Pristine mint state with a glossy golden tone. Obverse, draped laureate bust of king right, reverse crowned numeral denoting value. This is an exquisite piece which exhibits a much sharper strike than usual on the king's portrait. NGC graded MS-64.

*This coin was minted 10 years after the US Declaration of Independence. In October 1786 Congress established the United States mint and also in 1786 the Virginia legislature passed Jefferson's Ordinance of Religious Freedom. Meanwhile, King George III was still pondering the loss of his colonies.
