Lot 193

1803 S-249 R2 Corrected Denominator 100 over 000 PCGS graded AU53. Very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate with frosty tan faded down from mint color showing in some of the protected areas on the obverse. The only defects are a few minor nicks scattered over the obverse and a shallow low spot (caused by debris on the die) that weakens TA in STATES. E-MDS, Breen state II, with a clearly defined rim cud break at ED halfway to the adjacent S. The date is bold and the Corrected Denominator feature is obvious to the unaided eye. A beautiful example of this popular "Redbook" variety. Our grade is EF40+, close to EF45. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
Ex McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/24/2003:200-Colonel Steven Ellsworth 2003-John Koebert.
