Lot 156

1798 S-161 R2 Small 8, Style I Hair VF25. Ten points sharper but there are traces of extremely faint roughness hidden in the attractive glossy medium chocolate brown and steel toning No verdigris, but there is some crud caked into the protected areas around the inside of the wreath. A faint vertical hairline in the field under the hair ribbon is the only notable contact marks. M-LDS, Breen state IX. A full cud break connects TE in STATES t the rim and a raised retained cud shows over the adjacent TA. There are shallow low spots around the right side of the wreath, all caused by debris on the die. An attractive example of an interesting die state.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
Ex Tom Reynolds 12/1995-Clay Everhart-John Sullivan 2004-John Koebert.
