Lot 1506

1865. NGC graded MS-64. Boldly struck and untoned. Exceptional preservation for this Philadelphia late Civil War date and unusually nice for a Type I double eagle. A condition rarity at this grade and downright difficult to find appreciably finer. An important offering for the date specialist as these are rarely found so well preserved. This late Civil War issue was mainly used for European trade, and those coins did not survive like this! Impressive collector quality, so don't miss out if you desire mint fresh luster and clean surfaces.Pop 84; 26 finer (PCGS # 8943) .
Estimated Value $20,000 - 22,000.
