1872 Pattern Commercial Dollar. Copper, Plain Edge. Judd-1217. Pollock-1358 Rarity 7. PCGS graded Proof 65 Red & Brown. CAC Approved. Lovely shades of red colors with pristine surfaces and glorious frost on the devices. The obverse has Liberty seated facing left with a headdress similar to that seen on the Gold dollars and Three dollar gold pieces of this era. Liberty supports a pole with a cap raised high, the ancient Roman symbol of freedom. Flags are seen behind her and a large globe inscribed LIBERTY is at the forefront of the design. The reverse has an open laurel wreath with fruit, above is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and within COMMERCIAL / DOLLAR. On the small ribbon binding the two wreath branches the inscription says GOD OUR TRUST. A great rarity that is seldom offered at all, except when major pattern collections come to market. Pop 1; 1 finer in 65+RB (PCGS # 71488) .
Estimated Value $18,000 - 19,000.
