Lot 116

1794 S-38 R5 VG10+. A "Single Berry left of Bow variety." Rotated Reverse. Slightly sharper but there is a patch of very shallow verdigris at the L in LIBERTY, another at TED-S, and some more in protected areas around the leaves right of the E in CENT. The remainder of the planchet is smooth and the only notable signs of contact are a light rim bruise over the L in LIBERTY and a shallow mark on the rim off the tip of the bust. Glossy medium brown and light olive with reddish brown toning in parts of the fields and protected areas. EDS, Breen state II. Both of the "chips" in the field under the cap are clear, the inner one strongest as always. Struck with the reverse rotated 50 degrees clockwise relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. The date and legends are complete and clear, and the Single Berry feature is bold.
Estimated Value $800-UP.
