Lot 1098

1873. PCGS graded Proof 65. Only 600 minted and this is one of the finer pieces reported today by PCGS. Light gold, silver, and blue toning dances across the obverse and reverse in a most elegant fashion. This is the final year of issue of the Liberty Seated silver dollar and these seemed to just suddenly drift away as no final year surge was noted in the orders for these rare proofs. In fact, more orders came in for the new Trade dollars that were launched in 1873! Today the handsome design of the Liberty Seated dollar and their rarity makes them highly collectible, especially so when found in gem grades as offered here. Add in gorgeous toning, and a condition rarity, and what's not to like? Pop 10; 4 finer in 66 (PCGS # 7021) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.
