Rubinstein, Anton (1829-1894) Russian pianist, composer and conductor who became a pivotal figure in Russian culture when he founded the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. Rubinstein was a prolific composer throughout much of his life. He wrote 20 operas, the best known of which is "The Demon." He also composed a large number of other works, including five piano concertos, six symphonies, a large number of solo piano works along with a substantial output of works for chamber ensemble. Autograph musical quotation signed ("Ant. Rubinstein"), 1 page, 4½" x 6¼", Berlin, December 7, 1883. This very attractive musical quote features four bars from an unnamed Rubinstein work. Boldly signed. Age toned with several edge chips and a slight tear in the bottom left border. Backed on soft board. Very good condition.
