Stoddard, Henry - Presidential Advisor and Confidant (1861-1947) Journalist who worked in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., before becoming editor and part owner of the New York Evening Mail; a presidential confidant who advised many Presidents on policy matters. Collection of 13 items, including a Calvin Coolidge TLS, Plymouth, Vt., Sept. 26, 1932, to Mr. Stoddard about setting a mutual meeting date to discuss Coolidge's future writing. Includes a copy of "I Do Not Fit In With These Times" soft cover pamphlet; six retained letters written to Mr. Stoddard, c. 1926-1937, some clarifying information about his biographical subjects, e.g., Theodore Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge; a pamphlet, "Theodore Roosevelt The Man / Some Memories of the Greatest American of His Time," 32 pages, prepared and published by Stoddard after Roosevelt's death; two printed White House invitations addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Stoddard to attend receptions held by the Roosevelts in 1909 and the Hoovers in 1933; and two small printed White House admission passes.
