Johnson, Andrew Three Impeachment Tickets. Three admittance tickets to the Gallery of the U.S. Senate for the "Impeachment of the President": orange ticket (minor toning) dated March 23, 1868; cream ticket (mostly covered by dark toning) dated April 14, 1868; and white ticket (moderately toned) dated May 26, 1868. Orange and white tickets are 3 x 3½ in.; cream ticket has stub attached and is 3 x 5 in. "All with facsimile signature of George T. Brown, Sergeant-at Arms. On February 24, 1865, the House voted to impeach Johnson by a vote of 126 to 47. On May 26, 1868, the Senate acquitted the President by a vote of 35 to 19, only one vote short of the two-thirds required for conviction.
