Grant, Ulysses S. Partly-printed document signed ("U.S. Grant") as President, 1 page, 9½ x 7½ in., Washington, December 30, 1875. Ordering the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to a congratulatory letter to Queen Victoria. Matted with a "Grant" Fifty Dollar Bill; three small metal commemorative medallions; one large Memorial Commemorative silver metal medallion; three large "Grant" Commemorative Presidential bronze medallions; five commemorative stamps; two printed portraits of Grant and a brief printed Grant biographical timeline. Handsomely framed to an overall size of 17½ x 30½ in.

In 1875, Queen Victoria had written a letter to William I, the German Emperor, which was thought to have helped avert a second Franco-German war. Victoria's daughter, also named Victoria, was married to William's son Frederick, so she had some family influence. When William I died in 1888, Frederick would become Emperor for a few months before his untimely death.
