Page From First Hebrew Bible Printed in America. From the Biblia Hebraica, one page with Hebrew text on both sides, chapter headings and marginal notes in Latin, 8¾ x 5¼ in., Philadelphia, 1814. The Bible, "editio prima Americana, sine punctis Masorethicis," was published in two volumes. The title page indicates that it is a reprinting of the second edition of the Joseph Athias Bible, edited by Leusden with Latin notes by Everardo Van der Hought, and that the Hebrew is printed without vowels. Together with a poster in Hebrew inviting Jews to immigrate to America. A colorful, welcoming poster, 11 x 8¾ in., with vignettes of the Statue of Liberty, a train, and a factory; below are several ships arriving in America.
