Bronze Christogram Wreath, ca. 6th Century AD. A finely cast Byzantine circular bronze wreath formed with 16 interlocking flower heads tied with six knobbed projections and an upper and lower circular loop. The flowered wreath surrounds two primary early Christian monograms Chi Rho "XP" (XPISTOS) and Alpha to Omega, combined into a single monogram. The wreath was the connecting link between a large candelabra and it's supporting chain. An early example of this compound Christian monogram. Measures: 10 X 10 cm.
