Photographers, Late 1800s. Actors, Actresses and The Costumed. Collection of 60 Photos. A collection of cabinet cards of actors, actresses and possibly society swells dressed for masquerade, predominantly taken in New York City with most wearing incredible costumes. One portrait cabinet card is of famed Shakespearean actor, Edwin Booth. Twelve of the cards measure 6½" x 4¼", the other 48 cards, virtually all from three photography studios from New York City measure 8" x 4". Words cannot describe the diversity of faces, costumes, and backdrops these photographs represent, but they are all quite fantastic. Many of the portraits are identified in writing on verso, but truly, the stories are told in the fanciful images. All in excellent condition.
