Mucha, Alphonse. Biscuits Lefèvre-Utile. Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) painter, illustrator and muralist whose name is prominently associated with the Art Nouveau period and whose work remains extremely popular today with his command of color and sensuous lines.
Vintage Original Lithograph French Art Nouveau lithograph printed in 1899 for"Flirt Biscuits". "Flirt" was a brand of biscuits made by Lefevre-Utile, who commissioned Mucha for campaigns in the early 20th Century. So indeed a vintage original advertisement expressly used for retail sales. Art instantly became popular given its heady romantic theme and the original lithograph today highly prized by collectors. Image of cookie/biscuit is seen at bottom left with company name above ornate gate. Piece in excellent condition with no fold, tears, or repairs as examined in frame. Lithograph measures 25¼" x 11¾" matted and framed to 27½" x 15".
