Kunisada, Utagawa. Sumo Wrestling Triptych, 19th Century. Utagawa Kunisada (1786 - 1864), celebrated and remarkably prolific artist whose designs for woodblock prints from the mid-1800s are collected world wide. Offered is a woodblock triptych measuring 16" x 30" of his popular Sumo wrestling themes, matted and framed to a total 19" x 35". Examined in frame and in overall fine condition with minor toning and very slight water stain in upper center panel.
