"1815" Electrotype Copy Turban Head Cent VF20. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate blending to darker chocolate brown in protected areas. Sharpness is about 10 points better but there are a few patches of minor roughness and some of the underlying base metal shows through on both sides. This electrotype copy was made from an 1813 S-292 that had the date expertly reengraved to 1815, and the "5" is perfectly done. Perhaps that's why someone decided to use this "1815" cent as a model for electrotype copies.
Estimated Value $400-UP.
Ex Tom Reynolds 11/6/2010-William R. Eckberg.
