Lot 219

1803 S-261 R2 Small Date with Large Fraction PCGS Genuine, UNC Details, Cleaning. Attractive glossy light olive and chocolate brown. The surfaces are smooth and free of defects other than a dull nick under the B in LIBERTY, a tiny rim bruise under the bust tip, and a bit of dirt. This cent has never been cleaned and it is obvious the PCGS label was made for a different cent or a clerk pushed the wrong buttons. The surfaces are evenly worn to an EAC grade of F12 and nearly choice for the grade--but far removed from "UNC Details." EDS, Breen state II early. A very fine die crack reaches up from the dentils passing between the 8 & 0 reaching the shoulder loop. The "Small Date, Lg Frac" features are noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $200-UP.

Realized $423
