Lot 1787

1854-O. PCGS graded AU-55. Nice golden toning. The milling is sharp on both sides and the strike is also sharp. A tough date that is nearly unobtainable in mint state, so most collectors try to locate a nice AU coin for their date and mint sets. Here is a perfect candidate as it retains clean surfaces, minimal wear, and rich orange-gold color. First year of issue of the denomination as well, and the only New Orleans $3 date produced. Only 24,000 struck. Pop 47; 22 finer, 20 in 58, 1 in 61, 1 in 62. (PCGS # 7971) .
Estimated Value $5,500 - 6,000.

Realized $6,463
