1862, $5 United States Note. PCGS Gem New 66PPQ. Fr-61a. KL-190. This is a stunning Gem example of an early "Greenback," with bold originality, wonderful inks and colors, and fantastic margins for the issue. High quality large size type notes are always in high demand, especially from earlier series where the paper quality was not as sturdy as in later issues. PCGS has graded just seven examples of this Fr. number at the 66PPQ grade, with just a single finer 67PPQ assigned to date. Originality and quality like that displayed with this note never seems to go out of style.
