Lot 883

1855 N-12 R1 Upright 5's. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous light olive and steel brown with 10% of the mint red remaining on the obverse, 25% on the reverse. The only marks are a very shallow and easily missed low spot on the right half of the neck and a tiny planchet chip in the field off the upper right point of star 1 (both as struck). Rare EDS, die state a, with several fine lines down to right from the inner curl. Our grade is MS63, tied for finest known of the EDS in the Grellman census. Removed from an ANACS slab graded MS63RB (ANACS label #299030 included). The attribution is shown on the PCGS label (PCGS # 406176) .
