Lot 866

1854 N-19 R3. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown and light chocolate with 20% of the mint color remaining (must have been very close to an "RB" designation from PCGS). Frosty and essentially flawless except for low spots caused by debris on the dies (most likely excess lubricating grease). A shallow low spot covers the ear, cheek, and the upper part of the neck causing those design details to be blunted. MDS, die state b, with a fine but clear die crack arcing across the obverse from the dentils at star 3 through the top of the head to the dentils at star 9. A nice example of this popular variety. Our grade is MS60+, tied for CC#4 for the variety in the Grellman census. Removed from an ANACS slab graded MS63RB (ANACS label #2785796 included) (PCGS # 406112) .
Estimated Value $350-UP.
Ex Doug Durasoff.
