Lot 846

1853 N-21 R4. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown. Frosty steel brown with at least 10% of the mint red remaining, even more on the obverse. Hines of light bluish steel overtone cover the reverse. Excellent eye appeal. The only notable mark is a dull horizontal nick in the field over the tip of the coronet. Otherwise this cent is choice. LDS, die state b. The diagonal die lines from the curl at star 13 are gone and the fields on both sides are flowlined. Our grade is MS62, CC#9 for the variety in the Grellman census. Housed in an old green label PCGS "rattler" holder.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
Ex Glenn Marx, 2012 EAC Sale, McCawley & Grellman Auctions 5/5/2012:509-Rod Burress (lot ticket included).
