Lot 829

1853 N-3 R1 Repunched 1. NGC graded MS-66 Brown. Beautiful and highly lustrous light bluish steel brown with traces of faded mint color in a few of the most-protected areas. The only marks are a thin vertical nick midway between star 3 and the lips plus a few very shallow planchet flakes on the rim and dentils from the date to star 3 and another just past star 6 (as struck). Sharply struck E-MDS. The repunching over the base of the 1 is clear and die clashmarks are visible on both sides. Our grade is MS63, tied for CC#2 honors with several other examples in the Grellman census.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.

Realized $1,351
