Lot 741

1849 N-22 R1 MS63. Lustrous light steel brown and chocolate with underlying very faded mint color in the fields and protected areas on the obverse. The only marks are a small spot of darker toning off the left point of star 6, another well hidden in the hair right of the jawline, and two microscopic ticks between stars 11 & 12. The surfaces are satiny and this cent offers excellent eye appeal, especially on the obverse. M-LDS, die state c (Newcomb's old #6). Die lapping has removed the earlier die lines at the main and inner curls but the dull vertical line inside the top of the E in CENT remains clear.
Estimated Value $750-UP.
Ex H. Williams circa 1958-Merle Baker-Jerry Harp (Jerry's Coins)-Del Bland (includes the Bland collection envelope with his provenance notes).

Realized $1,351
