Lot 733

1849 N-10 R3 EF45. Frosty medium chocolate brown mixed with some lighter brown and chocolate tones on both sides. A couple faint hints of very faded mint color can be found on the reverse. There are a few light contact marks on both sides, none notable. A small planchet void on the rim under the fold of the wreath ribbon is a good identifying mark. Scarce LDS, die state d. The obverse die has been lapped to remove roughness, although some roughness remains around stars 3-9, and there are narrow rim cud breaks at stars 12 & 13. Removed from an NGC slab graded AU53 (NGC label #1848658-001 included, and it shows the attribution).
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex Doug Durasoff.
