Lot 687

1848 N-1 R1 Repunched 184. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown with traces of very faded mint red in a few of the protected areas on both sides. No spots or stains, only a few very light contact marks on the jaw and neck, none notable. MDS die state b. Die polishing has removed most of the repunching from the 18 but it is still clearly visible on the 4. The fields are smooth and slightly reflective. Our grade is AU58, just a hint of friction on the highest points from mint state. The PCGS label indicates the die variety is N-13, but that is incorrect (PCGS # 406469) .
Estimated Value $300-UP.
Ex Boeing Coin & Stamp 1/15/2011-Doug Durasoff.
