Lot 679

1847 N-26 R5 F15+. Sharpness VF25 but there are some microscopic contact marks scattered over the obverse and the highpoints on the reverse are lighter than the fields thanks to a very delicate cleaning. A nick in the field before the eye, another on the rim over the second T in STATES, and a light rim bruise over ME in AMERICA are the notable marks. Mostly glossy reddish chocolate brown with lighter chocolate toning on the highpoints. Very rare TDS, die state g. The rim cud over TE in STATES now extends to over the adjacent S. This smaller cud and the larger one at OF-A are both strong. Tied for CC#3 honors of only 11 known in this die state according to the Grellman census.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex Tilden 3/2011-Doug Durasoff.
