Lot 341

1798. Style 1 hair. Lightly cleaned and retoned a rather glossy olive and dark steel brown with lighter reddish brown toning in some of the protected areas on the reverse. Nothing about this cent suggests it was "Smoothed" so I suspect PCGS meant to say "Cleaning." No marks or other defects, and this cent offers nice eye appeal. The date is bold and the legends are complete. LDS, Breen state III, with obvious swelling on the reverse and a radial die crack from the rim to the upper edge of the bust. Our grade is VF20 net F15. The "1st Hair Style" feature is noted on the PCGS label (PCGS # 1431) .
Estimated Value $500-UP.

Realized $734
