Armenian Kingdom. Tigranes II "the Great". Silver Tetradrachm (15.9 g), 95-56 BC. Uncertain mint in Syria, ca. 83-70 BC. Diademed and draped bust of Tigranes II right, wearing tiara decorated with star between two eagles. Reverse: BAΣIΛEΩ-Σ TIΓPANOY, Tyche of Antioch seated right on rock, holding laurel branch; below, river-god Orontes swimming to right; on rock, monogram; all within wreath. SCADA grp. 7, obv. die A57 (Antioch); Mousheghian & Depeyrot 4; Bedoukian 21; Nercessian 33. Lightly toned. Choice Very Fine.
