Lot 296
1796 S-88 R4 Liberty Cap NGC VG Details, Environmental Damage. The obverse is dull dark steel brown and chocolate while the reverse is a much lighter shade of sandy tan mixed with chocolate brown highpoints (possibly from a light cleaning on that side). The surfaces are covered with very fine roughness but the only sign of verdigris is a small spot between the nostril and upper lip. Both sides show a few light scuff marks, none significant. The date and legends are complete but the dull surfaces hurt the eye appeal. I suspect a good brushing would help a lot. Our grade is F12 sharpness net G5. The attribution is shown on the NGC label.
