1889 Harrison and Morton inaugural Badge. NGC graded AU Details, Mount Removed. B-34, 38 mm. Sold as a lot of 2 pieces, including the slabed medal and the removed ribbon and hangers. The original design of this medal was ordered by the Harrison inauguration committee from Friederich Company of Washington, D.C. for badges to be used in the celebration. Only 1,600 pieces were struck with ribbons for the usage of the committee. However, Friederich Company made couple variant versions for sale to the public during the celebration. This medal, identified with added inscriptions "Geo. Washington First President of the U.S." was made for sale in the celebration of New York City. Due to the extraordinary popularity of these medals, Friederich Company later applied for a patent on this design.
Estimated Value $250-UP.

Realized $188
