Lot 218

1793 S-1 R4 Chain AMERI. PCGS graded Fair-2. Glossy medium chocolate brown with slightly darker steel brown toning on the highpoints. No roughness, verdigris, or planchet defects, just heavily worn. The only marks are some trivial nicks, mostly on the rims. A rim nick just right of the Y in LIBERTY is the best identifying mark, and it is insignificant otherwise. The date is very faint but all 4 digits can be seen if you angle the coin just right in a good light. Most of LIBERTY is visible. The devices and legends on the reverse are weak as well, but AMERI and the period that follows can be made out. The chain is complete. Our grade is consistent with the PCGS grade. If there can be such a thing as a choice Fair-2 Chain AMERI., this is it (PCGS # 1340) .
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.
