Being a large-sized coin, the $10 gold pieces bear plenty of blank field spaces that won't allow any mark to hide, and the ultra reflective surfaces of these Liberty gold proof strikes may signalize any flaw. However, this coin shows straightforward smoothness, which is so close to perfection, that any examiner wouldn't expect before seeing it. The cataloger's opinion is proved by the top pop for this coin, which is simply the finest piece ever graded by any grading services. The light handling traces on the bust would be the only reason that stopped this coin from being graded even higher. Only 77 examples were struck. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS. The only example graded as deep cameo by PCGS. Tied for the finest example graded at both services. (PCGS # 98846) .
