Lot 191

1835 C-1 R1. PCGS graded MS-63 Red. CAC Approved. Lustrous bright mint red just starting to fade to light steel brown with 75% of the red remaining on the obverse and 95% on the reverse. The only marks are some tiny specks of dark toning on the obverse and a significant carbon spot between the date and star 13. Otherwise this piece is a gem and the reverse is flawless. Housed in an old green-label PCGS holder. E-MDS, Manley state 1.0, with light die clashmarks on both sides. The reverse is rotated 25 degrees CW. Most likely from the Elmer Sears hoard that was discovered around 1935. Our grade is consistent with the PCGS grade.
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.

Realized $1,410
