Hawaii. 1883 Royal Hawaiian Agricultural Society Bronze Medal. Choice Uncirculated. Engraved on the reverse: "Premium for the 2nd Best Exhibited Native Gelding 'Daring' C. W. Macfarlane". 64 mm, 131.5 g, plain edge. Light marks on the reverse. Nice brown toning on both sides. Housed in the original wooden box as issued.
The Hawaiian annual agricultural shows used to separate horses into 2 classes, Class 1 for imported horses and Class 2 for native horses. And under each class, horses were separated into different groups for competition, such as colts and gelding horses. So this medal was issued to Mr. C. W. Macfarlane as the second finest exhibitor in the competition of class 2, gelding horses group, and the name of his horse was "Daring".
