Lot 1449

1895. PCGS graded Proof 68 PQ. CAC Approved. Lovely turquoise-blue, sky-blue, crimson, and golden toning is mixed with other colors of the rainbow. This is a stunning Proof striking, and it is a coin that has been preserved in essentially "as struck" condition since the year it was purchased from the Mint. There are no hairlines on either side and the fields are deep and unfathomably mirrored with pleasing mint frost over the devices, which yields a partial cameo contrast. An important and visually magnificent coin. Only 880 proofs were issued in 1895. Pop 2; none finer at PCGS (PCGS # 6542) .
Estimated Value $14,000 - 15,000.
