1882. NGC graded Proof 68. This coin represents the single finest graded by NGC for a Proof designation, and a coin of awe inspiring elegance for its colorful toning and exceptional quality. Toned with variegated circles and swirls of multicolored iridescence featuring hues of blue, green, gold, reddish-pink, mauve, and others. The assigned grade of Proof 68 confirms the surface quality, which is absolutely incredible for a half dollar of this period. With a mintage of just 1,100 pieces, it would be hard to imagine a finer example could exist.
