1859. NGC graded Proof 66 Cameo. From an original mintage of 800 pieces, only about 200 or so 1859 Liberty Seated quarters seem to have been distributed to contemporary collectors, the remainder being melted at the Mint. This conditionally rare Gem offers not only carefully preserved surfaces, but also an impressive Cameo finish that is in so much demand today. Untoned save for a bit of light, mottled, pale-tan tinting, with pinpoint striking detail to all elements of the design. A couple of tiny marks are noted on the obverse, these being visible only with magnification. A beautiful specimen. Pop 8; 1 finer in 67.
