Lot 1269

1856. PCGS graded Proof 64 Cameo PQ. CAC Approved. Colorfully toned on the obverse with reflective fields and frosty motifs. Peripheral shades of russet and cobalt-blue are noted while the reverse is essentially untoned. A rarity from an unknown but tiny mintage, perhaps on the order of 30 pieces, with just a small proportion of that number currently known in all grades. Among the finest proofs of the date certified by PCGS. A few marks are noted on the plastic holder and should not be confused with surface problems. An excellent opportunity for an advanced Seated Liberty quarter specialist or a collector who simply appreciates rare U.S. coins. Pop 4; 1 finer in 67. (PCGS # 85552) .
Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000.
