Byrd, Admiral Richard E (1888-1957) U.S. naval officer, pioneer aviator, and polar explorer best known for his explorations of Antarctica. Collection of five checks signed ("R.E. Byrd") and accomplished in Byrd's hand. All drawn on Farmers & Merchants National Bank, Winchester, VA.; dated September 8, 1930, July 7, 1931, October 22, 1932, April 15, 1937 and February 20, 1939. Bank cancellations do not affect the strong bold signature. Fine condition.
