Lot 929

Chagall, Marc (1887-1985) Russian-born French painter.

Two books, one signed and inscribed, and the other inscribed: (1) Paperback copy of Chagall signed "Marc Chagall" on the title page, by Jean Cassou published by Frederrick A. Praeger, New York and Washington, 1968. Book has edge wear. A long inscription to "Chas" signed "Love Uncle Marc" covers the back inside cover; Chagall wrote more to Chas on the front inside cover but it has a sheet of paper pasted over it, probably due to personal content. (2) Hard-cover book The Taste of Our Time inscribed in Chagall's hand, "Pats, this was a big year with precious Bart's arrival, the years to come will be even more exciting." The title page, which presumably had Chagall's signature, is missing. Dust cover has some soiling and edge tears. "Pats" was married to the Chas mentioned in the first book.
Estimated Value $250 - 350.
The Arden Family Holdings of Beverly Hills.
