[Lincoln, Abraham] Photo by Anthony Berger at Brady's Washington Gallery. Photo from an original "Brady Collection" negative, taken Feb. 9, 1864, 6¾ x 4 5/8". This photo (M-85, O-92) was taken at the same time as the photo that is used on the $5 bill (O-91), the pose being only slightly different. Noted on the verso is "Handy Photo / Wash D.C." Levin C. Handy (1855?-1932) was apprenticed at the age of twelve to his famous uncle, Mathew B. Brady (1823?-1896). This photo has numerous blemishes, especially along lower edge; still dramatic and striking.
