1997, STS-86 FLOWN TPS-thermal barrier. Used on Shuttle Atlantis, 11.5" diameter thermal barrier/R4R. It was reported during post landing inspection of STS-86 that this particular thermal barrier, circular in shape (part #VO70-3989041-007 with Serial No AH0715) was "torn and degrading" and thus was removed. Red tag and additional paperwork accompanies.
