Wright, Orville (1871-1948) American inventor and aviation pioneer who, with his brother Wilbur (1867-1912), invented and built the first successful airplane and who made the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air flight. First day cover commemorating the 25th anniversary of the first flight at Kitty Hawk, N.C. on Dec. 17, 1903. Signed by Orville at lower left; Indian Motorcyle Co. stamp at lower right. Cancelled at Kitty Hawk on recto; two other cancellations on verso. Light toning; very good.
