Short Tailed Sting Ray. Cyclobatis major was a 100 million year old short tailed sting ray found in the famous limestones of Hegel, Lebanon and is now extinct. This complete 4.25 x 2.8 inch museum quality specimen is unusually well preserved on a 6.75 x 4.25 inch limestone matrix with every tiny bone in the rays being preserved along with all of the delicate bones in the tail. Typically, some of the bones in the rays are missing along with part of the tail. These extinct rays were smaller than existing rays and almost totally round with a diminutive delicate tail.
